What’s The Difference Between A Signature Session And A Mini Session?
One of the questions I’m sometimes asked about my family photography sessions is about the difference between a mini session and a signature session. I hope this blog post helps to explain the differences so that you can choose the right type of session for your family.
When you book a signature session we’ll design it together. Together we’ll choose the date, location and style of your photography session so that it’s tailored to your needs.
On the day we’ll spend around two hours together capturing your family, but there’s really no time limit. If your children are tired, hungry or need a break from the camera we can pause and start again when they’re ready. I won’t rush you and will stay until I have everything I need.
Signature sessions can take place at your home, at a beautiful outdoor location, or we can divide the time between each.
After a signature family session you’ll be able to view 30-40 images from your session and choose what to order from my lovely range of heirloom quality products. Most families budget to spend between £500-£2,000 after their session and are able to enjoy their photographs in a variety of beautiful ways including fine art albums and bespoke framing.
Mini sessions take place on a small number of days through the year, in locations chosen by me and are designed to be short and sweet. Mini sessions are suitable for up to 6 people.
On the day of a mini session I’ll photograph 5 families, and each family has a 30 minute session with me. Everything is designed to be as quick and easy as possible for you.
After a mini session you’ll be able to view 15 images from your session, and choose from three digital and print packages to purchase. There is also the option to order framed prints, extra gift prints and other products in addition to your chosen package.
A Signature Session Is Perfect For You…
Signature sessions are perfect for you if you want a premium service, and want to have beautiful products that you can enjoy every day, and pass down through your family as heirlooms. They are also ideal if you would like to include extended family in the session, as custom sessions allow enough time for me to capture your whole family.
It’s also a good idea to choose a signature session if your children are shy, or take a bit of time to become comfortable around new people. In both kinds of session I do everything I can to make the sessions fun and enjoyable for your children, but in a mini session there is only 30 minutes available which may not be enough time for some children to warm up.
Finally, if you have a baby who is under 6 months old a signature session will be a perfect fit. These sessions allow plenty of time for feeds, cuddles and naps as we aren’t restricted by time, and also allow us to spend at least part of the session indoors which can be more comfortable for babies of this age. A Mini Session Is Perfect For You…
Mini sessions are ideal if you would like to try professional photography for the first time, or just want a handful of new photographs.
They also make brilliant presents since they include the session and some images meaning the recipient is not obligated to spend any more money unless they want to. They can be gifted to anyone, but popular ideas are to buy a session for grandparents with their grandchildren, or for birthdays, Valentines Day or Mother’s Day. When you are giving a mini session as a gift I’ll provide a lovely gift voucher.
