What To Bring To Your Baby's Milestone Session

As the date of your baby's milestone session approaches, you may start to think about what you need to bring with you. In this short article, I'll explain what you don't need to bring and what you do need to bring so that you feel really prepared for your shoot.

What you don't need to bring to your baby's milestone session

Before we dive into a list of things to bring to your session, there are some things that you don't need to bring. At the studio we have:

  • a feeding pillow
  • a soft, comfortable changing mat
  • nappy bags
  • baby wipes
  • drinks and snacks for the grown ups

You don't need to bring any of these things with you, unless you want to.

WHAT TO BRING TO YOUR BABY'S PHOTO SHOOT

Now that we've covered what you don't need to bring, what should you bring to your photo shoot?

I recommend bringing:

  • Nappies. It's a good idea to bring a few extra nappies; if we do take some photos of your baby without their nappy on, you'll need a clean one to put on afterwards.
  • Snacks and drinks for your baby if they're eating solids.
  • Any outfits you'd like your baby to wear during the shoot.
  • Any books or toys that you want to include in the photographs.

INCLUDING BOOKS AND TOYS IN THE PHOTO SHOOT

When it comes to including books and toys in the photographs, I recommend that you choose simple, classic items. For example, hardback books, wooden toys or a very special teddy tend to work much better than anything too bright or bold.

If there are toys that you definitely don't want to have in the photographs, it's better not to bring them into the studio. Most babies don't understand why they can't have something if they can see it, and not letting them have the toy can upset them. So, only bring in things that you're happy to have appear in the photos.
