How It Works

What you want from a family photo shoot can change as your family grows.

I offer three different types of session to reflect this.

A family photo shoot outdoors in Richmond Upon Thames

Signature Family Session

The signature family session is completely bespoke and built around you. You can choose to have your photo shoot at your home, outdoors or divide the time between both.

Each session lasts around 2 hours and includes a personalised viewing appointment afterwards where you can choose your beautiful new photographs.

Family Mini Session

My family mini sessions are held on selected dates throughout the year in beautiful outdoor locations.

Each session is suitable for up to 6 people and lasts around half an hour. Perfect for a quick update of your family photographs, or to give as a gift.

Baby At Home Session

Designed for families with a baby aged 5 days to 12 months, the baby at home session captures this special chapter in your family lives with natural, relaxed photographs.

We’ll capture natural portraits of your baby and family, the love and connection between you all, and all of those little details you want to remember.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I’m sure you’ll want to make an informed decision about who you choose to photograph your family, and you might have some questions. If you can’t find your question here please send me a message using the form below, and I’d be delighted to answer it for you.

The best months for outdoor family photographs are usually April to November.

Outside of these months it can be quite cold and uncomfortable to be outside for the entire photo shoot – especially for babies and young children.

Between April and November we have three beautiful seasons; spring, summer and autumn all give wonderful backdrops for family photographs. I recommend scheduling your session at anytime during these months.

I offer sessions on weekdays and Saturday mornings. It’s best to book your session at least a month in advance to ensure availability. This also gives you time to arrange outfits, hair cuts for the family, and any other preparations you’d like to make.

At my busiest times of year Saturday mornings can be booked up a few months ahead. So if you’d prefer a Saturday session it’s best to book as early as possible.

In the run up to your shoot I’ll keep a close eye on the weather forecast, and I expect you might too! Regardless of what the forecast says, I always recommend that we don’t make any decisions until the evening before your shoot. The reason for this is that I find the forecast can change frequently over the course of a week, and a day that is forecast to be rainy in a week’s time, can often be forecast to be a lovely dry, sunny day once we reach the day before.

If you’ve booked a mini session you’ll already have a backup date in your diary in case of rain (usually the following day) and if we have to postpone we’ll simply move the session to the backup date.

If you’ve booked a signature session and we can’t go ahead as planned because of the weather you can either choose to have the entire session at home, or reschedule to another date free of charge.

Yes, absolutely! I hear from lots of families who are getting the whole family together to celebrate a special birthday or anniversary and would like to use the opportunity to have some photographs taken.

The signature session has no limit on the number of family members who take part and is usually the best option for extended family sessions.

In these situations families usually have a very specific date in mind for the session and so it’s best to contact me as far in advance as possible to ensure I am also available on that date.

If it isn’t possible for all of the ‘decision makers’ to come to your viewing appointment after the session, I can also provide an online proofing gallery for relatives who can’t make it to order their photographs from.

When you’re choosing between a signature or mini session, the decision usually comes down to where you’d like to have the session, how much you’d like to spend, and the kind of experience you’d like to have.

This article explains the difference between a signature and mini session, and how you can decide which is right for you: What’s the difference between a signature and mini session?

If you’re still not sure which to choose please feel free to get in touch and we can discuss which option might be best for you.

I take your privacy very seriously, and will only publish pictures from your shoot in my online portfolios with your permission. If you do give permission the pictures are always shared anonymously (I would never share your or your children’s names.)

I will ask you about this when you book your session, and if you don’t want me to share the pictures from your session you can let me know then.

Yes. After a signature session you’ll have the option to buy high resolution digital images, printed items or a combination of both. Whichever option is right for you.

Mini Session and Baby At Home Session packages all include digital files.

You can find my family photography prices here.

In the run up to your session I’ll share lots of information to help you prepare – including some tips on what to wear.
