What If My Photo Shoot Can’t Go Ahead Because Of Coronavirus Restrictions?

Almost everyone’s life has been turned upside down by Coronavirus this year, but if you’re expecting a baby or have recently had one, chances are you’re feeling it more than most.

Whilst lots of services have been taken online – from midwife appointments to hypnobirthing and baby sensory classes – there are some things that have to be done in person including a professional newborn or baby photo shoot.

If you’re thinking about booking a photo shoot you might be wondering what would happen if your shoot couldn’t go ahead because of Coronavirus restrictions or another lockdown.

In this article I’ll explain what would happen if you book a shoot with me, and then it can’t go ahead because of Coronavirus restrictions. Specifically we’ll look at:

  • How the pandemic has affected newborn and baby photo shoots
  • What happens if the shoot can’t go ahead because one of us needs to self isolate
  • What happens if new lockdown restrictions come in and photography studios are forced to close.

Are You Still Open For Shoots Now That Tier 2 Restrictions Are In Place?

Yes, under the Tier 2 restrictions businesses are allowed to continue to operate as long as they are ‘Covid Secure.’ This means that as long as businesses are following the government guidance for working safely, they can stay open.

As you’ll read below, I do have extra precautions in place in line with the government guidance for photography studios, and so it is ‘business as usual.’ Your photo shoot will still go ahead whilst Tier 2 restrictions are in place in our area.

How has Coronavirus affected newborn and baby photo shoots?

When photography studios were able to reopen in June I put  many precautions in place to make sure I can work safely within the government guidelines.  I discuss these with each family before their session.

This means that your experience looks a bit different, but ultimately it’s the same; you’ll have the same style of photographs taken and the same level of service and attention to detail.

What happens if my shoot can’t go ahead because one of us needs to self-isolate?

If you or someone in your household or support bubble has symptoms of Coronavirus, or has been contacted by the Test and Trace service and asked to self isolate we’ll reschedule the session to a new date once your isolation period has ended at no charge.

Similarly, if I or anyone in my household needs to self-isolate and I can’t go ahead with your session I’ll contact you as soon as possible to let you know. I’ll give you the option to reschedule the session to a new date after my isolation period, or to cancel the session and have a full refund of your session fee.

What happens if my shoot can’t go ahead because photography studios are forced to close in new lockdown restrictions?

If new Covid-19 lockdown restrictions mean that photography studios are forced to close I’ll give you the option to reschedule at no extra charge or cancel the session and have a full refund of your session fee.
