Hello and welcome to my website. I’m Clare, a newborn, baby and family photographer based close to Hampton Court, just a short drive from Sunbury-on-Thames.

If you’re searching for a newborn photographer, you’re likely in that exciting stage of waiting for your baby to arrive – or perhaps you’re already in the newborn bubble and wondering whether it’s too late to book. (It probably isn’t.)

Recently, I had the joy of photographing this beautiful baby girl at my Hampton Court studio. She was 2 weeks old – a lovely age for a newborn session and right within that ideal early window. I’m delighted to share a little preview of her session with you today.

When Is The Best Time For Newborn Photography?

Newborn sessions ideally take place between 5 and 14 days after birth.

In those first couple of weeks, babies are often very sleepy and naturally love to curl into womb-like positions. This makes it possible to create the gently posed portraits you’ll see throughout my website – the posing always led by your baby, never forced.

Every baby is different. Some sleep deeply, some prefer a little more cuddling, and most will need a pause for feeding or changing. My sessions are calm and unhurried, allowing plenty of time for exactly that.

If you’re expecting, I recommend booking during your second or third trimester. When you book I make a note of your due date in my diary, and once your baby arrives we confirm the exact session date. This keeps things flexible while ensuring we photograph your baby at the most suitable time.

A Calm, Baby-Led Approach

Newborn photography isn’t just about taking a photograph. It requires patience, experience and a deep understanding of how to keep babies safe, warm and settled.

My studio is kept warm and peaceful, with a focus on soft neutral tones and simple styling. I don’t use busy props or themed setups. Instead, the emphasis is always on your baby and your connection as a family.

We usually begin with wrapped portraits, helping your baby feel secure and cosy. Once settled, I may gently unwrap to capture a variety of poses and angles. The session flows around your baby’s needs.

Although newborn portraits are beautiful, some of the most meaningful images are the ones that show connection.

Welcoming a new baby is a huge moment for the whole family, and I always allow time to capture those early days together.
