Newborn Photography Near Kingston Upon Thames

Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of photographing this adorable newborn baby girl at my studio, which is a 10-15 minute drive from Kingston Upon Thames and close to Hampton Court. At 10 days old, this little one, accompanied by her parents, was at the perfect age for a newborn photography session.

Newborn sessions typically take place when babies are between 5 and 14 days old. During these first two weeks after birth, babies tend to be very sleepy and enjoy being curled up, in similar positions to the ones they were in in the womb. This makes it an ideal time for posed newborn photography, as babies are comfortable, relaxed, and more likely to enjoy different poses.

As newborn sessions happen so early on in a baby’s life, lots of families plan ahead and book before their baby is born. Given the unpredictability of birth dates, I make a note of your due date when you make the booking. Once your baby arrives, we can confirm the date for your session, helping to make sure it happens at the right time regardless of when your baby arrives.

I understand that the initial weeks with a new baby can be a bit of a whirlwind as you get to know your little one and adapt to your new life together. That’s why I strive to create a relaxed and stress-free environment for parents. My studio is designed as a tranquil oasis, allowing parents to sit back, unwind, and enjoy the session whilst I photograph their new arrival.

To start this session, I focused on capturing portraits of this gorgeous baby on her own. As time went on, I gently moved, wrapped, and unwrapped her to capture a wide variety of photographs, showcasing different poses and details.

As this session took place during the winter, it was particularly cold outside. During each session I carefully heat the studio and use soft stretchy wraps to help babies feel warm, cosy and secure. This also helps them to relax and sleep peacefully throughout the session.

Lastly, we captured some precious family photographs, including individual shots of each parent with their baby, as well as special images of the whole family together – their first portraits as a family of three! Here is one of my favourite family portraits from the session:
