Mini Family Photography Sessions near Cobham in Surrey
In June this year I spent a Saturday photographing five families at my Summer Mini Sessions. It was a beautiful, sunny day and I chose a spot on Esher Common, close to Cobham to base myself for the shoots.
My mini sessions are always based around the seasons, and some of my favourite things about summer are long grasses and pretty flowers. They add so much depth and interest to the photographs. This location ticked all of the boxes and was full of pretty yellow buttercups and long, wavy grasses.
During a mini session I spend 30 minutes with a family, and capture a variety of photographs during that time – the whole family together, parents individually with their children, sibling groups and children on their own. Sometimes, as you’ll see below, families bring grandparents along too. And occasionally parents ask me just to photograph their children during the mini session. Mini sessions are usually busy, but very fun days and I love being able to meet so many families and document this moment in their lives for them.
I’ve put together some of my favourite photographs from the mini sessions below. I hope you enjoy seeing them.
It was the first time I’d photographed this family, and such a pleasure to meet them. Their young children enjoyed exploring the area I’d chosen for the shoot, and even found a frog hiding in the grass!
The second family I photographed were returning for their second mini session with me. It was lovely to see how much their children had grown since last year. Last year their mini session was during the spring, and I love how this year their photographs have captured a different season.
By the third mini session, the sun was really high in the sky and you can see it bouncing off the leaves of the trees, which gives a lovely effect. These happy, smiley sisters were a real joy to photograph.
For the fourth family I photographed this was also their first photo shoot with me. Their youngest son loved to stand up whilst his parents supported him, and even wanted to take a few steps whilst holding on to mum’s hands. I’m so pleased that we could capture this milestone, as it probably won’t be long until he’s walking on his own.
The last family I photographed had a newborn shoot with me when their daughter was born, and it was so wonderful to see her again! 7 months is a lovely age for baby photographs – by this age babies are usually sitting up unaided, smiling, and making lots of brilliant facial expressions!
I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing some of my favourites from this mini session day. You can find out more about mini sessions here.
