HOW IT WORKS

SETTING A DATE

When you get in touch to schedule your session we’ll discuss what you’re hoping for from the session, locations and timings.

I offer family sessions on weekdays and on Saturday mornings between April and November. Saturday sessions can get booked up several months in advance so it’s best to book ahead.

Over the years I’ve got to know a number of beautiful Surrey and London locations that I recommend for sessions – when you get in touch to book we can discuss your ideas for the session and which location is the best fit for your family.

To book your session please get in touch by email or by filling in the form at the end of this page.

BEFORE YOUR SESSION

When you book we’ll schedule a telephone consultation where we’ll plan your session. This is a time for you to tell me all about your family and what you’re hoping for from the photographs so that I can tailor the shoot to you.

I’ll also share lots of practical tips to help you prepare from what to bring to what to wear, and answer any questions that you have.

A few days before I’ll get in touch again to run through all of the final details, and make sure you feel prepared for a relaxed, enjoyable session.

YOUR FAMILY PHOTO SHOOT

The day of your session has arrived!

We’ll usually spend an hour or two together, and I’ll give you plenty of guidance on what to do as we move through the session, so you don’t need to worry about feeling awkward.

I’ll also have plenty of games up my sleeve to keep little ones entertained.

VIEWING YOUR PORTRAITS

One to two weeks after your session we’ll meet online, where you can see the fully edited photographs from your session and choose your favourite pictures.

I’ll be on hand to give as much or as little help as you need. I can help you design albums and gallery walls, or choose the best way to display your new photographs. I promise that there’s no pressure or hard sell – that’s just not my style!

This is the time that you place your order and make payment. Once payment is received, digital images will be delivered within 24 hours and printed items will follow 4-6 weeks later.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I’m sure you’ll want to make an informed decision about who you choose to photograph your family, and you might have some questions. If you can’t find your question here please send me a message using the form below, and I’d be delighted to answer it for you.

The best months for outdoor family photographs are usually April to November.

Outside of these months it can be quite cold and uncomfortable to be outside for the entire photo shoot – especially for babies and young children.

Between April and November we have three beautiful seasons; spring, summer and autumn all give wonderful backdrops for family photographs. For these reasons I only schedule outdoor family sessions during this window.

I offer sessions on weekdays and Saturday mornings. It’s best to book your session at least two months in advance to ensure availability. This also gives you time to arrange outfits, hair cuts for the family, and any other preparations you’d like to make.

At my busiest times of year Saturday mornings can be booked up several months ahead. So if you’d prefer a Saturday session it’s best to book as early as possible.

Photographs of your children are always going to be special. But there are some ages and stages that tend to be easier than others. You can find out more in this article:

What’s the best age to have my child photographed?

In the run up to your shoot I’ll keep a close eye on the weather forecast, and I expect you might too! Regardless of what the forecast says, I always recommend that we don’t make any decisions until the evening before your shoot. The reason for this is that I find the forecast can change frequently over the course of a week, and a day that is forecast to be rainy in a week’s time, can often be forecast to be a lovely dry, sunny day once we reach the day before.

If we can’t go ahead as planned because of the weather you can reschedule to another date free of charge.

Yes, absolutely! I hear from lots of families who are getting the whole family together to celebrate a special birthday or anniversary and would like to use the opportunity to have some photographs taken.

Family sessions have no limit on the number of family members who take part and so are a great option for extended family sessions.

In these situations families usually have a very specific date in mind for the session and so it’s best to contact me as far in advance as possible to ensure I am also available on that date.

I take your privacy very seriously, and will only publish pictures from your shoot in my online portfolios with your permission. If you do give permission the pictures are always shared anonymously (I would never share your or your children’s names.)

I will ask you about this when you book your session, and if you don’t want me to share the pictures from your session you can let me know then.

Yes. After a signature session you’ll have the option to buy high resolution digital images, printed items or a combination of both. Whichever option is right for you.

In the run up to your session I’ll share lots of information to help you prepare – including some tips on what to wear.
