Hampton Baby Photography
Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of photographing this adorable 7-month-old baby boy during a Baby Milestone Session at my studio, which is close to Hampton Court and a short drive from Hampton.
Baby milestone sessions are designed to capture a baby’s personality and development stages when they are aged between 3 and 13 months. This baby boy was in the wonderful window when he could confidently sit up but wasn’t yet crawling. This is a wonderful age for a photo shoot because babies typically love to engage with the people around them at this age, are oozing gorgeous personality but don’t get frustrated because they want to crawl (or walk) away.
In my baby photography, I prefer to keep things natural and authentic, without the use of props or decorative backdrops. However, milestone sessions do allow for a change of outfit for the baby. In this case, we photographed this happy baby boy in two different pieces – a classic white vest and a lovely long sleeved bodysuit.
I typically recommend choosing no more than two or three outfits for a baby milestone session, as most babies have limited patience for frequent changes.

Each Baby Milestone Session is tailored to the individual baby’s age and temperament. For instance, a session with a younger baby who can’t sit up on their own will differ from one with a baby who can confidently sit and crawl.
Getting to know different babies and their expressions is a lot of fun too; of course it’s wonderful to capture smiles, but I also love to photograph all the other expressions that you’ll so often see from your baby. From long, soulful stares, to curiosity, to big gummy grins.
I also follow the baby’s lead when it comes to taking family photographs. Some babies need time to adjust to the new environment, so we begin with family portraits where they are held by their parents. Other times, babies are raring to go, and we start with their solo photographs. In either case, I make sure we allow time for family photographs and capture a variety of family images, and lots of different baby portraits.
