Fulham Newborn Photography | 3 Week Old Newborn Portraits
I’m delighted to share this baby girl’s newborn photo shoot with you today, which took place at my South West London studio when she was between 3 and 4 weeks old.

Photographing A Three Week Old Newborn Baby
Typically I’ll photograph new babies when they’re aged between 5 and 14 days old, but on occasion it just doesn’t work out that way.
Perhaps baby or mum had an extended hospital stay. On other occassions families have contacted me after their baby has been born and the earliest date I can offer them is after the 14 day window.
In my experience it is still possible to have a newborn session at around 3 weeks, but we may need to allow a little more time for it.
As babies get older they spend longer periods of time awake between feeds and sleeps. This means that a session with a 3 week old baby might take longer than a session for a younger baby.
But, all babies are different – some babies aged under 2 weeks spend lots of time awake at their session, and some babies aged over 2 weeks sleep the whole way through!

Sleepy Newborn and Family Portraits
Despite being 3 weeks old, this gorgeous baby girl snoozed through most of her newborn session.
When she did spend some time awake and relaxed I took the opportunity to take a photograph of her with her eyes open. But as you’ll see in these photographs she slept soundly for most of the time.
At the end of each session I take family portraits – photographs of each parent with their new baby alone, and photographs of the whole family. Most babies find it very difficult to stay awake through these regardless of age – it’s so warm and cosy in their parents’ arms!
I’ve put together some of my favourites from this baby girl’s session below. I hope you enjoy seeing them…
