What Are Christmas Mini Sessions?

A Christmas mini session is a short, Christmas-themed photo shoot for up to 3 children from one family.

On a Christmas mini session day I’ll photograph children from several families at pre-booked times. Each family’s session lasts between 10 and 15 minutes, giving us plenty of time to capture some gorgeous Christmas memories.

The sessions include some digital images and personalised Christmas cards (more on both of these later) and are a perfect way to capture a few happy, Christmas memories each year. Lots of families bring their children back for a Christmas mini session each year, and it’s a lovely way to document them growing up!

Unfortunately the sessions aren’t suitable for babies who are less than three months old.

When and Where Will The 2023 Christmas Mini Sessions Be?

The Christmas mini sessions take place at my studio, which is close to Hampton Court (KT8 postcode.)

The studio is a short walk from Hampton Court station which has regular trains from London Waterloo, Vauxhall, Clapham Junction, Wimbledon and Surbiton. There’s also plenty of free parking outside.

This year the Christmas mini sessions will be held on three dates, with lots of different time slots available to book on each day. The dates are:

  • Saturday 4th November
  • Thursday 16th November
  • Sunday 19th November

What Kind Of Photographs Do You Take At A Christmas Mini Session?

During the session I’ll aim to capture a variety of different photographs of your child on the Christmas-themed set. If you have more than one child I’ll photograph each child separately and all of your children together.

All of the photographs will be in the style of the photographs in this blog post. The background to the photographs will be the same background you see in all of these photographs.

If you have a baby who can’t sit up on their own yet, I’ll also take some photographs of them lying down on soft blankets with some Christmas props.

What Should My Child(ren) Wear For The Christmas Mini Session?

As the backdrop to the Christmas photographs is a bed, I recommend that your child wears Christmas pyjamas or a cosy Christmas jumper for the photographs.

It’s best to avoid clothes with writing or slogans on them, as this can be distracting when you’re looking at the photographs.

Choosing outfits in red, white, cream, beige, or navy will really complement the colours on the set.

If you have more than one child, dressing them in matching outfits can work really well too.

How Do I See The Photographs Afterwards?

Around a week after your session I’ll send you a link to a private online gallery where you can see the fully edited photographs from your session.

The gallery will be live for 24 hours whilst you choose the photographs you’d like to include in your package, and which photograph you’d like to have on the front of your Christmas cards.

At this point you can also order extra digital images, cards or prints if you wish. The prints make lovely gifts so this is a great time to do some Christmas shopping!

Once you’ve made your selection, you’ll receive your digital images within 48 hours, and your cards will be delivered to your home address approximately 2-3 weeks later.

What Do The Christmas Cards Look Like?

Each mini session package includes 10 personalised Christmas cards, featuring one of the photographs from your Christmas mini session.

The cards are A5 size and come with white envelopes.

There will be three different card designs to choose from – you’ll be able to choose which photograph you’d like to have on the cards, and the design when you view the photographs.
