I’m Ready To Book A Newborn Photo Shoot – What Happens Now?
If you’re ready to book a newborn photo shoot you might be wondering what happens next – when should you book, and what happens afterwards?
I’m sure you’ll be happy to know it’s a straightforward process!
Contacting me to book your session
When you decide to book your session you can either let me know by phone, e-mail or by filling in the contact form here. If you fill in the contact form I’ll respond by email.
I’m always happy to have a chat before you decide whether to book, and answer any other questions you have. So if this is something you’d like to do first just let me know.
Choosing a date
Most of the time you won’t know exactly when your new baby will arrive, so when you book I’ll make a note of your due date, and we will confirm the date of the session when your baby is born.
I only take on a limited number of newborn shoots each month so I can keep my diary flexible enough to accommodate your baby whether they arrive on time, early or late!
If you do know what date your baby will be born – for example if you’re having a planned C-section, we can confirm a date for the session when you book. This is usually around 8 days after your delivery, so that you have some time to rest and adjust beforehand.

Confirming your session
When you book your newborn session I’ll need two things from you to confirm it:
- payment of the session fee
- completion of the booking agreement.
I’ll email both the contract and an invoice for the session fee to you. You can complete the contract online, and pay the session fee by credit or debit card online, or by bank transfer.
If you’re booking more than 3 weeks in advance I’ll hold the session for you for 7 days whilst you return the contract and session fee. If you’re booking within 3 weeks of the session date or your due date I’ll hold the space for 48 hours whilst you return these items.
Preparing for your session
Once your session is confirmed I’ll send you my digital newborn session guide, which is filled with hints and tips to help you get the most from your session – from what to wear, to preparing your new baby and any older children you have.
We’ll also arrange a time before your session for your consultation. This is a time for us to speak on the phone or on Skype, and plan your session so that it works for your family.
The consultation is a time for you to tell me all about your family and for us to discuss the finer details of the shoot.
