Five Of The Best Locations For Spring Family Portraits In SW London

Spring is one of the most popular times of year for outdoor family photographs, and with good reason. Mother Nature puts on a fantastic show during the spring with all of the gorgeous spring flowers and greenery we see, and these make a wonderful backdrop to family photographs.

Over the years I’ve got to know lots of different locations around London and Surrey, and which make the best spots for spring family photographs. In this article I’ll share five beautiful locations for spring family portraits in South West London and Surrey.

The Isabella Plantation, Richmond Park

The Isabella Plantation is beautiful all year round, but really comes to life during the spring with stunning, brightly coloured azaleas in bloom, alongside magnolia, daffodils, bluebells and rhododendron.

There’s also lots of heather, with different varieties blooming between March and the summer. I find it a really fun place to wander around with my children – there are so many different areas to walk through, all joined by little pathways, and you never know what you’ll see around the next corner!

The best places to take bluebell photos in Surrey

Kew Gardens

Kew Gardens has over 5 million bulbs planted, so you are sure to find a beautiful backdrop at whatever point you visit the gardens during the spring.

As well as all of the daffodils and crocuses that you’ll see bloom from these bulbs, there is also the bluebell walk and the stunning blossom-filled Cherry Walk.

Bishops Park and Fulham Palace

Bishops Park and neighbouring Fulham Palace are both home to beautiful displays of purple wisteria, which makes a wonderful backdrop to photographs.

Both gardens are also home to daffodils, and in Fulham Palace gardens you’ll also find magnolia, bluebells and crocuses.

The Woodland Garden, Bushy Park

The beautiful Woodland Garden is home to beautiful displays of blossom during the spring, along with plenty of daffodils and bluebells. You’ll also find magnolia, rhododendrons and azaleas as you explore.

Osterley Park

Beautiful Osterley Park in West London is well known for it’s bluebell displays around the long walk and the Great Meadow.

During the spring you’ll also find that daffodils and primroses in bloom and that some colour has started to appear in Mrs Child’s Flower Garden, although the peak colour can be seen here in the summer.
