Baby Portrait Photography At My South West London Studio
Earlier this summer I had the pleasure of taking some portraits of this gorgeous 6 month old baby girl at a Baby Milestone Session at my South West London studio.
Milestone sessions can take place when a baby is between 3 and 13 months old, but the ideal time is when they can confidently sit unaided but aren’t yet walking. At this stage babies are usually very expressive and love to engage with me and the camera. But don’t become frustrated because they want to crawl away and explore. Typically this is somewhere between 6 and 10 months.
This baby girl fell perfectly into this window. She wasn’t yet crawling, but was comfortable sitting, lying on her tummy and being on her back which meant we could capture a nice variety of photographs. She was full of gorgeous expressions, and gave me so many lovely smiles. It was a real joy to photograph her!

During a milestone session parents have a choice between bringing their own outfits for their baby to wear or choosing outfits from my studio wardrobe. In the wardrobe I have a selection of outfits for babies aged 3-13 months in soft, neutral colours.
I usually recommend choosing no more than 2-3 outfits for the session; most babies will have a limited tolerance for being changed, photographed, changed photographed. So a limit of 2 or 3 outfits means they won’t get too fed up with all of the changes. Many parents also choose to strip their baby off for part of the session so that we can capture all of their gorgeous rolls!
During this baby girl’s session we used a combination of her family’s outfits and something from my studio wardrobe. At the end we also took a few pictures of her in just her nappy.
