BABY AT HOME SESSIONS

Surrey Family Photography At Home

From those early days with your tiny newborn to their first wobbly steps, your baby’s first year is a whirlwind of new experiences. Blink and you could miss it!

My baby at home sessions capture these precious days with natural, relaxed photographs. Bottling up your little one’s scrummy details; the little expressions that make up their personality; those big wide-eyed grins, and their gorgeous, squidgy thighs. Freezing a moment in time so you can remember it forever.

HOW IT WORKS

SETTING A DATE

When you get in touch to schedule your session we’ll discuss your baby’s age, your ideas for the session and timings. I offer sessions on weekdays and on Saturday mornings.

If you’d like to have a photo shoot with your newborn baby I recommend booking before your baby is born. In this case I’ll make a note of your due date when you book, and we’ll set the exact date once your baby arrives.

To book your session please get in touch by email, phone or by filling in the form at the end of this page.

BEFORE YOUR SESSION

When you book we’ll schedule a telephone consultation where we’ll plan your session. This is a time for you to tell me all about your family and what you’re hoping for from the photographs so that I can tailor the shoot to you.

At this point we’ll also discuss timings to make sure we work around naps and feeds, and your baby is well rested for the session. I’ll also share lots of practical tips to help you prepare from preparing your home to what to wear, and answer any questions that you have.

A few days before I’ll get in touch again to run through all of the final details, and make sure you feel prepared for a relaxed, enjoyable session.

YOUR FAMILY PHOTO SHOOT

The day of your session has arrived! We’ll usually spend around 2 hours together, but I won’t be watching the clock. If we need to take a break for snacks, feeds or coffee for the grown ups we can. I won’t leave until I’ve captured a lovely variety of photographs for you.

As well as taking plenty of photographs of your baby, I’ll also capture you as a family, take photographs of your other children if you have them, and photograph any special details you want to remember such as your baby’s nursery or special books and toys.

As we move through the session I’ll give you plenty of guidance about what to do, so you don’t need to worry about feeling awkward in front of the camera.

VIEWING YOUR PORTRAITS

Around a week after your session we’ll meet at my studio or your home for your viewing. This is when you see the photographs from your session for the first time, and choose your favourite pictures.

I’ll be on hand to give as much or as little help as you need. I can help you design albums or gallery walls, or choose the best way to display your new photographs. But I promise that there’s no pressure or hard sell – that’s just not my style!

The viewing is where you place your order and make payment. Once payment is received, digital images will be delivered within 24 hours and printed items will follow 4-6 weeks later.

I’m sure you’ll want to make an informed decision about who you choose to photograph your baby, and you might have some questions. If you can’t find your question here please send me a message using the form below, and I’d be delighted to answer it for you.

I offer sessions on weekdays and Saturday mornings. It’s best to book your session at least a month in advance to ensure availability. This also gives you time to arrange outfits, hair cuts for the family, and any other preparations you’d like to make.

At my busiest times of year Saturday mornings can be booked up a few months ahead. So if you’d prefer a Saturday session it’s best to book as early as possible.

Baby at home sessions can take place at any time during your baby’s first year.

The most popular times are during the first 2 weeks after your baby has been born, at 3-4 months old when your baby can support their head themselves, at 6-10 months old when your baby can sit unaided but isn’t yet crawling, and their first birthday.

If you’d like to have your baby photographed as a newborn the ideal time is when they are under two weeks old. For this reason I recommend booking before your baby is born to guarantee that I’ll be available during this window.

When we plan your shoot we’ll talk about the best places in your home to take the photographs. This is usually the master bedroom, nursery and your living area but you may have some other rooms you’d like to use too.

I’ll talk you through preparing these rooms for the photographs, what you’ll need and what it’s a good idea to hide!
