Autumn Family Portraits In London
Last November I spent a mild Saturday morning photographing this lovely family in the beautiful autumn colour in South West London. I’m excited to be able to share some of my favourite portraits from their session with you today.
This was my fourth time photographing this family, which made the session incredibly special. It’s a huge privilege to be able to see little families grow and change as they come back for shoots over the years, and wonderful to be able to document this journey for them.
Our Autumn Family Photo Shoot in London
We started the session with photographs of the whole family. I always find this is a great way to help everyone relax in front of the camera.
As the shoot progressed and everyone warmed up, I spent time photographing each parent on their own with their daughter, and of course their gorgeous little one on her own.
One of the brilliant things about having an outdoor photo shoot in the autumn is that there are plenty of exciting things for children to do – from jumping into piles of leaves to finding acorns and conkers. As you can see from the photographs, this little girl particularly enjoyed finding conkers around the park!

Choosing The Best Clothes For Autumn Family Portraits In London
I know that one of the things that parents spend the most time thinking about before their photo shoot is what everyone should wear. I understand this completely; if you’re investing in professional photographs you’ll want to make sure every detail is considered.
This is something I can help with, and before each session I share tips to help families plan their outfits. So you don’t need to worry about whether you’ve chosen the right things for everyone to wear.
One of the lovely things about an autumn session is that the natural colours around us are really vibrant. And this means that you can easily elevate your photographs by incorporating pops of rich autumnal colours into your outfits – deep reds and mustard yellows work particularly well.
This little girl’s outfit was the perfect balance of autumn colours and really ‘popped’ against the colourful background.
