A Newborn Photo Shoot With A 4 Week Old Baby Boy
I’m delighted to share this beautiful baby boy’s older newborn session with you today. He was four weeks old when he came to my studio for his session earlier this year, along with his mum and dad.
Older newborn sessions are suitable for babies aged 2-8 weeks, and I offer them for families who have missed the traditional ‘2 week window’ for newborn photography. Although babies tend to be less sleepy, and less flexible than in the earlier weeks it is still possible to capture a beautiful set of baby and family photographs during these older newborn weeks.
During the session we focus on photographing baby in the newborn poses that are suitable and comfortable for older newborn babies, and on taking family photographs. Compared with a newborn photo shoot for a baby aged under 2 weeks, we spend a little more time focussed on family photographs and a little less on photographs of the new baby on their own.

As is typical at this age, this lovely baby boy was awake for part of his session. As well as capturing some photographs of him awake, I also captured this lovely big yawn as he settled down to sleep!
Once he settled down to sleep I photographed him in lots of different newborn poses that are suitable for older newborn babies.
During every older newborn session I also capture the tiny little details that make babies so unique. The tiny toes, the little finger nails and all of their gorgeous little facial features.
Babies change and grow so quickly during their first year, and I think it’s really special to have a record of these precious little details from their early weeks.
It was such a pleasure to capture all of these photographs for this baby boy and his family, and I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing some of my favourites from their older newborn session.
