What better way to start the week than with a teeny tiny newborn baby. I’m excited to share some photographs from my session with this gorgeous baby girl, who also happens to be my niece! I took these photos in January when she was just 9 days old.
This was the perfect time for a newborn session: between 6-10 days most families have been home for a little while and are ready to venture out. Most importantly babies are still quite calm, sleepy, and haven’t started to stretch out from the curled up position they were in in the womb.
During a newborn session I’ll most often start by photographing the baby – he or she has usually just been fed and is happy and content. Once I’ve captured the baby, we’ll add in siblings, parents and importantly take a portrait of the whole family. Occasionally this order changes – sometimes one parent has to get to work, or take an older sibling to school or nursery, in which case we’ll start with the family portraits first.
Newborn sessions take place at my home in East Molesey where I have all of the equipment to safely photograph your baby. Whilst I’m photographing baby there is plenty of space and a comfy sofa where parents and siblings can relax and rest (or sleep!) and tea, coffee and biscuits on tap. I also suggest bringing some books, toys or an iPad to keep older siblings entertained. You can read more about how my newborn sessions work here.
