I’m excited to share this family session from last summer with you today. It was in one of my favourite locations – the National Trust’s beautiful Claremont Landscape Gardens between Esher and Cobham. We started the session early in the morning, so had the whole place to ourselves which was a real treat.
One of the most wonderful things about outdoor shoots like this one is that the backdrop is so varied. At Claremont there is a huge space to explore, and some of my favourite spots are the gorgeous lake, stepping stones to hop, skip and jump along, and the lovely thatched cottage.
The variety of backdrops also makes outdoor shoots like this one perfect for children – there’s plenty of space to explore, play and most importantly, make the session feel like fun. For families like this one it’s not difficult to keep the children engaged as they are a little older and understand why the photos are important. When families have younger children though I make sure we play lots of games, and go on adventures so that they enjoy the session.
